Why should my child study music at a young age?
Recent studies suggest that playing and listening to music at a young age improves learning, memory, reasoning ability and general creativity. Research also supports the theory that young children who are exposed to music develop enhanced cognitive skills. Music teachers are aware that influences of music go far beyond the intellectual and physical development of the child. Studying music contributes to the growth of a well-balanced child in sensitivity, expressiveness and the spirit essential for functioning in a complicated world.
Do you offer instruction for adult beginners?

How do I know when my child is ready for private instrumental study?
Children benefit substantially from beginning their musical journey in early age. They build understanding and literacy experiencing the elements of music - the same way they assimilate language. Maestro Music Studio developed special programs for very young beginners (ages 4 and up).
Early childhood is the ideal time to start music lessons. At age of four to six, the ear is at its peak of sensitivity. Learning music is as natural as learning to speak. Maestro creative approach centers on developing the three essential elements of pitch, harmony, and rhythm.
What types of things can I expect to happen in the lesson?
Each lesson will include a variety of activities chosen from instrumental performance, singing, music appreciation, coloring, movement, activities with magnetic/dry erase board, listening and rhythm activities. The activities that occur in the lesson are structured to take into consideration the young child's small hands and limited attention span. Skills taught in the lessons focus on instrumental performance, listening, pitch matching, technique, and singing, rhythm, movement and music appreciation.
What is my role as a parent in music study?
Parents play a very important role in music lessons for young children. Lessons are a total partnership between the child and the parents. Parents are recommended to attend lessons and share in the learning process at home. Parents must supervise practice and read directions to the student.
What is the recommended duration of the lesson?
Lessons are scheduled weekly and depending on the level are 30 to 60 minutes in length: beginner- 30 minutes, intermediate-45 minutes, advanced-60 minutes.
It is our hope in taking on new students that we can play a positive and enriching role in each of their lives. We have no registration fee! Though it does not happen often, students wishing to stop taking lessons can do it immediately. We have no withdrawal fee! We kindly ask for 24 hours notice should the cancellation of lesson occur. Make up lessons can be scheduled for no additional fee!
How often and how long should my child practice?
In order to benefit most from private lessons regular practice is important. After each lesson, your child will get an assignment for the week. Children should practice daily for 10-15 minutes. It is wise to practice as early in the day as possible, keep a record of practice time and establish a reward system for effective practice. Two brief practice times are preferable to one longer session. The parent should sit near the child during the practice time so that the child doesn't feel isolated.
Yes, we
do. Performance opportunities, such as studio recitals, give
students, at all levels, an opportunity to perform in a friendly, fun,
non-stressful environment for each other. Performing for others is good for
various reasons:
- Builds confidence, stage presence
- Provides smaller goals for the student and puts
the daily piano practice into perspective
- Good preparation before a competition or
examination
- Meet others who have the same interest
Maestro Music Studio will gladly help you to buy, rent or trade your music instrument. Keeping in mind an upgrade may be necessary as the musician advances.
An instrument in good condition should be available. It is a good idea to have your acoustic piano tuned once a year. This keeps the pitch up and the piano sounding great.

Do you offer group lessons?
